Danse Chelsea: Where Movement Meets Community!

The history of Chelsea Dance goes back to 2020 when the dance dream team of Andrea Harquoil, Cynthia Westaway, Andrea Rowe, and Elinora Adeland joined forces to establish Danse Chelsea Dance in response to the challenging pandemic. With the support of the community, the school quickly became a success, enrolling over 100 students in the Fall of 2021.

During a lockdown in Quebec early in 2022, Chelsea Dance faced setbacks, temporarily closing its doors. However, this difficult time brought a serendipitous event, as Catrina von Radecki, with her vast experience in dance performance, education, and arts administration, arrived in the Chelsea community. With Catrina taking the reins in February 2022, Danse Chelsea Dance found renewed energy and excitement to continue flourishing. In Spring 2023, they proudly introduced a new studio location in Wakefield, Quebec, expanding their dance revolution to even more people.

At Chelsea Dance, they believe in the power of dance to inspire and uplift people of all ages. Whether someone is just starting or an experienced dancer, Chelsea Dance offers classes that suit everyone, from Creative Dance to Contemporary, Ballet to Hip Hop, and Jazz to African dance.

For parents and caregivers with little ones aged 2 to 4, Chelsea Dance provides Parent and Child classes as the perfect opportunity to bond and build relationships through the exploration of developmentally appropriate movement.

Their Jazz classes are the place to be for those with rhythm running through their veins. They focus on developing a grounded jazz movement style for both children and adults.

Chelsea Dance's Creative Dance classes aim to build physical confidence, strength, flexibility, and body awareness while nurturing each child's natural joy of movement and active imagination.

The studio also offers Djamboola Fitness and Afrobeat classes, providing a fun way to stay active through a mix of African cardio dances and moves from around the world.

Contemporary dance enthusiasts can unleash their inner artists at Chelsea Dance. The classes focus on exploring the body's potential while embracing the natural joy of movement and imagination.

Adults can own the dance floor with Chelsea Dance's Hip Hop classes, where self-expression and rhythm take center stage.

For those who appreciate timeless grace and poise, the classic ballet training at Chelsea Dance is a beautiful journey of coordination, musicality, strength, flexibility, and grace.

Chelsea Dance also offers Movement and Meditation classes for adults, led by interdisciplinary dance artist Kelsey Walsh, providing a mindful moment to explore the body's wonderful ways.

In terms of dress code, Chelsea Dance recommends comfortable and fabulous attire for the dance floor, including bodysuits, tights, dance shorts, tank tops, and appropriate footwear for specific classes.

Chelsea Dance invites everyone to join their vibrant and inclusive dance experience, whether they are just starting their dance journey or looking for a new home as a seasoned dancer.

They encourage individuals to let their bodies move to the rhythm of life and create magical moments together on the dance floor. Chelsea Dance believes dance is for everyone, regardless of age or experience level.
